Like many artists I have had the wonderful opportunity to make art specifically for public enjoyment. Either under my own initiative or through a public art commission I thoroughly enjoy engaging with community via an art project. Art can be a powerful way to generate conversation and to cross cultural, political and generation divides.
Public art is different than community art in that only the artist creates the work. It can be a site specific piece or a piece that is commissioned for a particular location or event. Public art can be temporary or a permanent installation is available to be viewed by any member of the public in an accessible location.
I have had the privilege to create pieces that are both permanent or temporary, both commissioned or self motivated. Please explore some of the projects that I have designed and created over the years.
